Effective July 1st 2007 Manchester received an upgrade to our ISO Rating to a Class 4.  Be sure to check with your insurance agent before your policy renews to ensure your premium reflects our current rating. Thanks for all the political and community support!  Special thanks to all the hard working Fire Department personnel.

During early 2008 we worked towards achieving an ISO class 3 with the support of SPLOST Funds.  Our inspection was conducted June 17th 2008.  Manchester Fire Department underwent the ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey in June 2008 and the outcome of this analysis resulted in our remaining the classification as a Class 4 community.  The Fire Department improved our point value by 5.61 points; however the Water Department lost 3.77 points.   This factor further reduced our total score by .90 points in divergence (balancing score reduction).

By category the Fire Department rated a Class 3, Receiving & Handling Fire Alarms rated a Class 2 and the Water Department rated a Class 5.  We will continue to strive to achieve the ISO 3 rating with the help of faithful citizens and public officials.

Manchester Fire Department received a Department of Homeland Security grant for $72,000 and purchased communications equipment, a vehicle exhaust system and a station generator system.  This grant was completed in February 2008.  We are currently submitted for a 55ft Aerial Truck and Rescue equipment.  We are hoping for a positive result.

In May 2008 we received the Brent Chesney grant from the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation to purchase a "Sparky" the Fire Dog costume.  This has enhanced our fire prevention education activities for children of Manchester at community events and at Mountainview Elementary School.
