Manchester Fire Department is a ISO Class 4 department which protects 6 square
miles of City, with a population of 4,000. We also respond to mutual aid requests for our neighbors in Warm Springs VFD and
Flint Hill VFD. The department responds to around 600+ calls per year. We have 2 Engines, 1 Reserve
Engine, 1 Command and Service Unit and 1 Rescue unit.
The Department provides emergency services with a force
of eight full time staff, four part time staff and twelve auxiliary firefighters. These highly trained men
and women are proactive in their approach to the challenges and rigors of day to day responses.
In addition to emergency responses, personnel are tasked with inspecting and maintaining
over 280 fire hydrants, pre-fire planning over 225 commercial properties, and completing prescribed continuing education courses.
In 2007, personnel logged 4600 cumulative training hours. In 2008 Manchester Fire Department opened it's
new training facility which consists of a burn building, 35' training tower, multi-level smoke maze, denver drill, propane
tank, flammable liquids pit and car fire fire control as well as a roof ventilation and wall breach simulator.
Under the current leadership of Fire Chief Gregory Lehtimaki, Manchester Fire Department
has continued a history of excellence, receiving it's Class 4 ISO rating in 2007. The Department has designed its organizational
structure to facilitate the best responses to any incident in the City of Manchester.
Whether it's fighting a fire,
investigating its cause, administering emergency medical care, teaching fire and life safety education, everyone at Manchester
Fire Department works diligently to serve the residents of Manchester.
